Cookie policy
Last updated:
This policy lists the cookies and similar browser storage wehfinyam.com uses, what each one does, who sets it and how long it lasts, and how you can change your mind at any time. It adds detail to the privacy policy.
What cookies and local storage are
A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to keep, so the site, or a service it uses, can recognize your browser later. Local storage is a similar space in your browser where a site can keep a setting; it stays on your device and is not sent to a server with each request. This policy treats both the same way.
"First party" items are set by wehfinyam.com itself. "Third party" items are set by another company's service, here Google or Microsoft, and only if you allow it.
The two kinds the site uses
Strictly necessary. These remember choices you make on the site: your cookie answer and your light or dark theme. They stay in your browser, are not sent to us and do not track you. They are always on, because the site cannot remember your choice without them.
Analytics and maps. Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity show which pages help and where the site is hard to use, and a Google Maps embed, where a page has one, shows a location. They stay off until you choose Accept in the cookie panel or switch Analytics on in Cookie settings. If you decline, ignore the panel, or your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, none of them loads and no cookie from them is set.
The site uses no advertising cookies, and no ad network places cookies on wehfinyam.com.
Strictly necessary items
wl-cookie-consent(local storage, set by wehfinyam.com). Remembers your cookie choice, so the panel does not ask on every page. It lasts until you change your choice or clear your browser's site data.theme(local storage, set by wehfinyam.com). Remembers whether you chose the light, dark or system theme. It lasts until you change it or clear your browser's site data.
Analytics cookies, only with your consent
The durations are the defaults Google and Microsoft publish, and they can change if the provider changes them.
_ga(Google Analytics 4). Tells visits from the same browser apart, using a random identifier. It lasts about 2 years._ga_followed by the site's container ID (Google Analytics 4). Keeps track of the current session on this site. It lasts about 2 years._clck(Microsoft Clarity). Keeps a random Clarity user ID and preferences for this site. It lasts about 1 year._clsk(Microsoft Clarity). Links several page views into one Clarity session recording. It lasts about 1 day.
Clarity records how pages are used, such as clicks, scrolling and mouse movement, and masks text typed into form fields. Google explains how it uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. Microsoft's privacy statement is at privacy.microsoft.com.
Google Maps, only with your consent
Where a page shows a Google Maps embed, Google sets its own cookies and receives your IP address after you accept and the map loads. Until then, the map does not load. The names and lifetimes of Google's cookies are set by Google and described in its own policies.
Cookies set on other websites
Some links go to other websites, and those sites set their own cookies when you arrive there. If you follow a link to a restaurant's website or social page, that site's cookie policy applies.
How to change your choice
Choose Cookie settings or Your privacy choices in the footer of any page to open the cookie choices again, then accept or decline analytics and maps. The cookie settings page explains each choice.
- If you switch analytics off, Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity stop sending data right away, the site removes the first party
_ga,_clckand_clskcookies it can reach, and the tools no longer load from your next page view. Cookies set on Google's or Microsoft's own domains stay until they expire or you delete them in your browser. - If you switch analytics on, the tools load straight away.
Global Privacy Control
If your browser or a browser extension sends a Global Privacy Control signal, the site treats it as a decline of analytics and maps. The tools do not load and their cookies are not set, whatever was chosen before. The signal also counts as a request to opt out under the US state laws that recognize it. Set it again on each browser you use. The privacy policy has more.
Browser controls
Every major browser lets you see, block and delete cookies and site data, usually under Privacy or Security:
- Chrome: Settings, Privacy and security, Third-party cookies, and Delete browsing data.
- Safari: Settings (or Preferences), Privacy, Manage Website Data.
- Firefox: Settings, Privacy and Security, Cookies and Site Data.
- Edge: Settings, Cookies and site permissions.
- Phones: in the settings of the browser app you use.
Blocking cookies and site data leaves wehfinyam.com working. The site will ask your cookie question again, and forget your theme, on your next visit. Google also offers a browser add-on that stops Google Analytics on every site, at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
Changes to this policy
If a cookie or similar item is added, removed or changed, this policy and the date on the page are updated before the change goes live. If a new item needs your consent, the panel asks for it before it is set.
