Start with The Almond Tree at Hibiscus Lodge for a bay and Caribbean Sea view in central Ocho Rios, and Christopher's or The Broken Rudder at Hermosa Cove for ocean views on the north side. For a river setting, Reggae Hill serves dinner beside the White River. Several of these places need a reservation, and Hermosa Cove asks non-guests to phone ahead, so plan your table before you plan the sunset.
Ocho Rios is in Saint Ann parish, and the views you can get here are very different from one place to the next. Some restaurants sit over the sea, some look over a river and some give you the sea and the mountains in one view.
Sea views in and around town
The Almond Tree sits at Hibiscus Lodge in central Ocho Rios and offers bay and Caribbean Sea views. It serves breakfast, local and international lunch, dinner, cocktails and seafood, and its bar is known for sunsets over the Caribbean Sea. Breakfast runs from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m., lunch from noon to 5 p.m. and dinner from 5 to 9:30 p.m.
A sea-facing terrace is the setting at The Almond Tree, Christopher's and The Broken Rudder.
On the north side of town, Hermosa Cove has two restaurants with a view. The Broken Rudder is beachfront and open-air, serving Jamaican barbecue, jerk chicken, ribs, roasted pig, fresh fish, island vegetables and casual beach food. Christopher's is a veranda restaurant with panoramic ocean and sunset views, and its menu uses European, Asian and Indian influences with Jamaican ingredients. Both accept non-guests when space is available.
Jamaica Inn offers two dining options with views. The Terrace is an al fresco restaurant under the stars, with a changing five-course dinner menu that uses Caribbean-influenced international cooking, local ingredients and seafood. It also has live local music. Teddy's Beach Grill sits on the sand, with Angus beef, shrimp kebabs, grilled cauliflower and wood-fired pizza.
Margaritaville Ocho Rios is in Island Village on Turtle Beach Road. It is a waterfront entertainment venue with a full-service restaurant and bar, a beach, a pool, water trampolines and live entertainment. The menu runs from seafood and burgers to sandwiches and Caribbean-influenced dishes. If you want a lively afternoon by the water rather than a quiet dinner, this is the place to look.
Poko Loko Floating Bar sits at Beecham Plaza and offers food and drinks on a floating venue with views of the Jamaican waters. The menu covers pizza, wings and burgers, and you can swim and snorkel as well. It suits a visitor who wants to be on the water rather than beside it.
River, mountain and hillside views
Reggae Hill Riverside Dining is at White River Exchange, beside the White River. Its menu mixes Jamaican and international dishes, including curried goat pappardelle, jerk chicken tagliatelle, seafood pasta, oxtail ravioli and the fresh catch. Its hours run daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., with dinner service from 5:30 p.m., and it takes reservations.
A river and green hillsides frame the dining around White River and Mystic Mountain.
Starliner Seafood Wine-Bar and Grill is in Plantation Village, just outside Ocho Rios. It opened on March 1, 2023, and its 360-degree view takes in the North Coast sea and the mountains around it. The menu is seafood-led, with fish, lobster, conch, shrimp, oxtail, curry goat and pasta. It is the clearest choice here when you want the sea and the mountains in one view.
Mystic Mountain is on Dunn's River Road, inside a rainforest attraction. Its dining options sit within the park, with panoramic views over Ocho Rios and the coast. Ask the park which food options are open on the day of your visit.
Views in Oracabessa, east of town
GoldenEye's restaurants and bars are in Oracabessa in St Mary, east of Ocho Rios. Bizot Bar serves breakfast and lunch near the sea. Button Beach Bar & Grill serves jerk barbecue and grilled fish on the beach. Shabeen has a rooftop lounge with a panoramic sea view, though a sunset view is not promised. Visitors who are not resort guests should confirm access before travelling, since there is no clear non-guest policy.
Booking, non-guest access and hours
Hermosa Cove has the clearest rules for visitors who are not staying at the resort. Phone first so the resort can make the reservation and notify security. Identification may be required at the entrance, and security staff receive the names of diners with reservations. The entrance is at the end of Hermosa Lane, which can be difficult to find, so give yourself time to locate it. Barbecue nights at The Broken Rudder generally fall on Fridays when occupancy allows.
Hermosa Cove also sells a day pass for US$75 per person (as of October 2026), which includes access to the restaurants, the beach and the pools. The day pass runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Broken Rudder's guest hours run from noon to 5 p.m., so do not plan on the restaurant being open all day for everyone.
Jamaica Inn requires reservations for all of its restaurants. Its breakfast runs from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m., lunch from 1 to 2:30 p.m., and dinner at The Terrace from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Teddy's Beach Grill serves dinner from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The hotel's beach is limited to house guests, and visitors need management approval to use it. Find out whether an outside diner can book the restaurant without staying at the hotel.
Reggae Hill takes reservations. Payment varies from place to place, so check whether a venue takes Jamaican dollars, US dollars or cards, and whether a service charge or gratuity is separate from the bill.
What you will pay
Prices are in different currencies, so keep each venue on its own. The Almond Tree's January 2025 lunch menu lists dishes and sandwiches from about US$5 to US$15. Its December 2025 dinner menu lists chicken at US$16, curried goat at US$23, oxtail at US$31, salmon and shrimp at US$30, sirloin at US$44 and seasonal lobster at US$44.50. A 10% gratuity is added to the bill.
Starliner's menu prices are in Jamaican dollars, as of October 2026, and the exchange rate is about J$159 to US$1 (Bank of Jamaica, 13 October 2026). Southern fried chicken is J$1,500 (about US$9), curry goat J$3,350 (about US$21), oxtail J$3,750 (about US$24), shrimp J$3,500 (about US$22), conch J$4,000 (about US$25), and salmon J$5,000 (about US$31). Lobster starts at J$5,000 (about US$31). The restaurant says prices may vary by season and availability.
Margaritaville's online menu prices are in US dollars, as of 14 October 2026. Seafood chowder is US$9.95, shrimp tacos US$17.95, burgers and sandwiches run from US$19.95 to US$20.95, fish tacos are US$23.95, jerk barbecue chicken is US$24.95, shrimp pasta is US$28.95 and salmon is US$29.95. A combo platter is US$38.95. These are resort-area prices, so do not set them beside a local plate.
For Reggae Hill, Poko Loko, Mystic Mountain and GoldenEye, ask about meal prices, admission and the currency before you go.
Confirm before you go: the Almond Tree's current dinner menu, and Starliner's prices for your visit date, since both can change.
Sunset: where and when
The Almond Tree's bar is the one to aim for if you want a sunset over the Caribbean Sea. Dinner runs from 5 to 9:30 p.m., so the bar or an early dinner is the timing to choose. Christopher's at Hermosa Cove tells diners to arrive before 5 p.m. so they do not miss the sunset, and it offers sunset views from the veranda and from the beach or gazebo.
Evening light over the water is the draw at the sea-facing tables.
Jamaica Inn's The Terrace serves dinner under the stars from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Teddy's Beach Grill serves evening beach dining from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Both are starlight and oceanfront dinners, with no set sunset time. Check the sunset time for your date and book a table that gets you there before it.
For a sea-facing table, request one when you book. Weather and table placement can both affect whether you see the sunset from your seat.
Getting there
Plan transport for each venue, because the options sit in different places. Hermosa Cove is on the north side of town, Reggae Hill is at White River Exchange, Mystic Mountain is on Dunn's River Road, and Starliner is in Plantation Village near Ocho Rios. Visitors should use the street address with a licensed taxi, hotel transport or a map application.
Most of these venues sit apart from each other, so a taxi or hotel transport helps.
If you are going to Hermosa Cove, remember that its entrance is at the end of Hermosa Lane. For a sunset meal, plan your return trip before dark.
Common questions

Teddy's Beach Grill sits on the sand at Jamaica Inn, and The Terrace there dines under the stars, though non-guest access needs confirming.
Where can you eat by the sea in Ocho Rios?
The Almond Tree at Hibiscus Lodge, The Broken Rudder and Christopher's at Hermosa Cove, Jamaica Inn's Teddy's Beach Grill, Margaritaville in Island Village and Poko Loko's floating bar all sit by the water. What are good places to eat in Ocho Rios?
Good depends on the meal and the setting, so pick by what you want. For Jamaican food with a view, The Broken Rudder serves jerk chicken, ribs, roasted pig and fresh fish, and Starliner serves fish, lobster, conch, shrimp, oxtail and curry goat. For a formal dinner, The Terrace at Jamaica Inn serves a five-course menu from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Mystic Mountain's dining sits inside a rainforest park, which is a different experience from a restaurant on the waterfront.
Is Ocho Rios nicer than Montego Bay?
There is no objective answer, because the two towns suit different trips. Ocho Rios is the stronger choice for waterfalls, rivers, rainforest scenery, beaches and restaurants with sea, river or mountain views. Montego Bay suits visitors who want a larger city atmosphere, airport convenience, resort concentration, golf and the Hip Strip. For views over water, rivers and hills, Ocho Rios offers the wider mix, and Montego Bay offers the wider mix of city life. For a special dinner there, see romantic restaurants in Montego Bay.
