Resorts and Island Village
Some all-inclusive resorts advertise round-the-clock food for their own guests. Moon Palace Jamaica advertises 24-hour room service and a 24-hour Boulangerie, and Hotel Riu Ocho Rios advertises snacks and drinks around the clock for its all-inclusive guests. Those hours are for guests, not walk-in diners.
Resort food at all hours is meant for the resort's own guests.
Island Village, on Turtle River Road near the cruise pier, combines restaurants, bars, shopping and entertainment. The Jamaica Tourist Board described it in November 2025 as a dining and entertainment complex with weekend Salsa Saturdays and Karaoke Sundays. Its weekly events start at 6 p.m.: After Work Jam on Fridays, Salsa Saturdays with lessons and open dancing, and Karaoke Sundays. The Jacana 420 Festival ran there on April 20, 2025, from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m., with music and food. Food and drinks are available throughout the complex. Margaritaville sits inside Island Village and is open daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., so it works as an early evening stop rather than a late one. Its ClubVille nights bring DJs, dancing and a VIP lounge, with Saturday Ladies Night at the Ocho Rios location, so check the event schedule before you plan around it.
Getting home safely
Use a licensed taxi or one arranged through your hotel. The Jamaica Tourist Board says licensed public passenger vehicles carry red PPV plates or white P plates, and the Transport Authority adds a current sticker on the windscreen. Check the driver's Transport Authority identification badge before you get in. Chartered taxis can be booked through a hotel, and fares are normally agreed when the trip is booked, so agree on the fare and destination before you leave.
Arrange a licensed taxi before you leave the venue.
The Jamaica Constabulary Force advises passengers to note the vehicle's licence plate, colour and make, tell someone they trust when they board, avoid drivers who leave the planned route, and report anything suspicious to police on 119. Keep your group together, keep valuables out of sight and stay in well-lit areas. The U.S. State Department notes that roads outside central areas can be poorly lit and that public transport becomes less predictable late at night.
When dinner happens
There is no single dinner hour in Jamaica. Dinner generally begins after 7 p.m., restaurants and resorts often start around 6 p.m., and roadside jerk and pan-chicken vendors are busiest from about 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. For Ocho Rios, treat 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. as the main dinner window, and check the kitchen's closing time if you plan to eat after 11 p.m.
Ask whether the kitchen is still serving, not only whether the bar is open, because the two can close at different times. Carry Jamaican cash as a backup for late-night stops.
