If you want seafood in Negril, start in two places. On Seven Mile Beach, Miss Lily's at Skylark Negril Beach Resort lists whole snapper and seasonal grilled lobster, and Arthur's Beach Bar serves freshly grilled lobster, according to Visit Jamaica's Negril dining guide. On West End Road, Ivan's at Catcha Falling Star builds its menu around fresh-caught fish, and The Lodge at Tensing Pen lists snapper dishes, lobster rundown and grilled lobster. Your budget and your dates will shape the choice, and lobster depends on the calendar.

Seafood on Seven Mile Beach

Seven Mile Beach restaurants are generally along Norman Manley Boulevard, so a day on the sand and a seafood lunch are easy to combine.

Whole grilled snapper on a plate on a wooden table beside a sunny beach Seven Mile Beach makes a seafood lunch easy to pair with a day on the sand.

Miss Lily's Restaurant at Skylark Negril Beach Resort is a good pick for a full day out. It serves breakfast from 7:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and dinner from 5:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. The seafood to look for is whole snapper, along with seasonal grilled lobster when it is in season.

Flag City Seafood & Grill, also on Norman Manley Boulevard, publishes prices for several seafood dishes, which makes it easier to plan your budget. Its online menu, as of October 2026, lists fish steamed, roasted, grilled or fried for J$2,500 (about US$16), grilled lobster for J$3,500 (about US$22), and conch curried, brown-stewed, fried or served as a salad for J$2,500 (about US$16). The same menu lists shrimp for J$3,500 (about US$22) and crab for J$3,000 (about US$19). Ask whether the fish price covers a plate or a whole fish.

Fireman's Lobster Pit is a lobster-focused beach restaurant at The Boardwalk Village. Get the current lobster price from the restaurant before you go, because the lobster pricing you see online may not be today's.

Arthur's Beach Bar is a rustic, sea-to-table beach spot. It serves freshly grilled lobster, which makes it a casual choice for a seafood lunch by the water.

West End seafood for cliffside dinners

West End is the place to look for cliffside seafood dinners. Ivan's, for one, serves lunch as well as dinner.

Sunset over calm turquoise sea seen from a rocky cliff edge West End is where Negril's cliffside dinners happen.

Ivan's Restaurant & Bar at Catcha Falling Star, on West End Road, builds its menu around fresh-caught seafood. It serves breakfast from 7:00 a.m. to noon, lunch from noon to 4:00 p.m. and dinner from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Its bar runs from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Cliffside and resort restaurants may require reservations or strongly prefer them, so book ahead for dinner.

The Lodge Restaurant at Tensing Pen lists snapper dishes, seafood linguini, lobster rundown and grilled lobster, with the lobster marked as in season. As of October 2026, its menu gives seafood linguini at US$22, lobster rundown at US$28 and grilled lobster at US$30. Those prices are in US dollars, so budget in US dollars here.

Rick's Café on West End Road is one of the names to try for a cliffside meal. Its menu lists whole lobster at US$45 and Jamaican steamed fish and shrimp with okra at US$33, as of October 2026.

Xtabi Resort's dining menu lists lobster dishes from US$34 to US$45, depending on how the lobster is prepared. It also offers conch steak and deep-fried conch at US$21, and fish of the day at US$28. The fish of the day can be snapper, grouper, dolphin, mahi mahi or tuna.

Miss Penny's Restaurant at Lighthouse Inn 2 is a smaller West End choice for fresh lobster and seafood. It is open from 3:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and closes on Mondays. Prices are in US dollars, with a 15% general consumption tax added, and the restaurant accepts Visa, MasterCard and American Express.

Pirates Dock Bar & Grill in Mary's Bay lists fresh Caribbean lobster, conch fritters and escovitch fish. Get the price from the staff before you order.

For a higher-priced dinner, Le Vendome in Negril lists grilled fish at US$32, snapper in coconut sauce at US$38, grilled lobster at US$50 and lobster royale at US$52. Its dinner menu adds a 12.5% service charge and charges foreign cards in US dollars. If you are wondering how tipping works on top of a service charge, our guide to tipping and eating out in Jamaica covers it.

Choosing by setting and budget

The right choice depends on the kind of meal you want. For a beach lunch on Seven Mile Beach, start with Miss Lily's, Flag City or Arthur's Beach Bar. Each one gives you a different kind of plate: whole snapper and seasonal lobster at Miss Lily's, a menu with prices for fish, conch, shrimp and crab at Flag City, and freshly grilled lobster at Arthur's.

For dinner with a view of the cliffs, look to West End. Ivan's, The Lodge, Rick's Café and Xtabi Resort all have seafood on their menus. If you want a smaller West End table with fresh lobster and seafood, Miss Penny's is the place to try. If your budget can stretch further, Le Vendome has the highest lobster prices of these, with grilled lobster at US$50 and lobster royale at US$52, before the service charge.

Lobster season and what it means for your plate

Jamaica's spiny lobster closed season runs from April 1 through June 30. The Jamaica Information Service's fishing seasons notice said in May 2025 that catching, buying and selling lobster are illegal during that window. The National Fisheries Authority's 2026 close season rules allow lobster that was legally harvested and properly declared to be sold or eaten during the closed period. Eating places must keep transaction records, and undeclared lobster can be seized. Fishing for lobster stays prohibited during the closed season, and berried or undersized lobster is banned all year.

Whole spiny lobsters on crushed ice at a seafood market stall Lobster has a closed season, so what is on the menu depends on the calendar.

Queen conch has its own closed season, from July 1 through October 31, and that date can be extended. If your trip falls in that window, check what conch is being served before you plan a conch dinner.

Confirm before you go that lobster is on the menu if your visit falls between April 1 and June 30. A restaurant that advertises lobster does not, by that fact alone, show that the lobster was legally declared.

Lobster is seasonal, so it can be missing from a menu even when the menu mentions it. Find out what is available that day before you plan a lobster dinner around it.

Getting there, paying and ordering

Seven Mile Beach choices are generally along Norman Manley Boulevard, and West End choices are along West End Road. Whitehouse is a fishing community in Westmoreland, south of Negril, so it is a separate trip rather than part of the beach strip.

Wooden fishing boats pulled up on a sandy shore beside calm water Whitehouse is a fishing community south of Negril, a separate trip from the beach strip.

Use the restaurant's road or property name for directions. For West End, Whitehouse or any beach spot that is hard to find, a licensed taxi or driver is the sensible choice, because walking between distant parts of Negril is not a practical plan.

Menus use both JMD and USD, so read the currency before you order. Carry Jamaican dollars for the smaller beach businesses, and check card payment before you order at any of them. Hours differ widely, so check the day's hours before you set out, especially at seasonal places.

Seafood can be charged per plate, per whole fish, per lobster or per pound, so find out which one applies before you order. Some places sell whole fish by the pound. Find out whether the pound price covers sides, preparation, tax and the service charge, and agree on the price before the fish goes on the grill.

Common Jamaican seafood preparations include fried fish, escovitch fish, brown-stew fish, steamed fish, fish tea, rundown, curry shrimp, conch, and ackee with saltfish. Snapper, grouper, fish of the day, shrimp, conch and lobster can come grilled, fried, steamed, escovitch, brown stew, curry or rundown, depending on the kitchen. Saltfish is usually imported salted cod, so it is a different product from the fresh fish on a grill. For more dishes and where to find them, see our guide to Jamaican food to try.
